For a steel mill to be environmentally-friendly is no easy task. However, Malayawata Steel Berhad has managed to consistently address issues pertaining to its environment, leading to our successful ISO14001 certification.

As an ISO14001 certified company, we value our responsibility to the environment. Continual improvement in our environmental performance inspires us to go beyond compliance with the law and to be sensitive to our environs. We shall always be committed to the prevention of pollution and strive to be a caring and responsible corporate citizen. EMISSIONS

ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL MEASURES
   
DUST Improved dust suction capability with installation of state-of-the-art Dedusting System.
 

   
   
WASTE GASES Emission of waste gases are minimized with the usage of natural gas which is environmentally friendly
 

   
   
WATER

To reduce water consumption and wastage of water, water is recycled and treated via a re-circulation system.
 
   
   
NOISE Installation of new compressors has reduced noise emission during operations.
 

   
   
SCRAP and SKULL Scrap and skull are recycled and used as raw material for steel production.
 

   
   
SLAG Slag is used as landfill internally.
Slag is also used for laying paths internally.
 

   
   
MILL SCALE Mill scale is sold overseas for use as raw material for blast furnaces.
